About the Accord
The Newcastle Liquor Accord brings together licensed venues, bottle shops and other businesses that sell or supply liquor in the Newcastle CBD and surrounding area. Members meet regularly with the NSW Police Licensing Unit, Liquor & Gaming NSW, City of Newcastle and Transport for NSW.
The objects of the Accord are to prevent and reduce alcohol-related crime in our community. We work to do this by:
- Co-operating with the police and local community to improve local outcomes
- Enhancing the responsible service of alcohol
- Improving safety and security
- Ensuring the safety of the local community
Membership
Why join
Membership of a liquor accord is a common condition of liquor licences. Whatever your licence conditions, membership gives your venue:
- Direct access to the NSW Police Licensing Unit, Liquor & Gaming NSW and City of Newcastle at every meeting
- Early notice of regulatory changes, such as the NSW vibrancy reforms, and what they mean for your licence
- Safety alerts from police and regulators, such as warnings about apps that fake the Service NSW digital ID
- Practical compliance guidance on mandatory signage, ID scanners, CCTV, incident logs and intoxication
- A voice for local venues with Council and government, from outdoor dining fees to CCTV in the CBD
- Training and campaigns arranged for members, such as workplace sexual harassment prevention
Who should join
Anyone who sells or supplies liquor in the Newcastle CBD and surrounding area: hotels, clubs and bars, restaurants and cafés, bottle shops and supermarkets, breweries and distilleries, function and event operators, and businesses that serve the industry, such as security providers.
Membership fees are set annually and invoiced after joining.
